a productive day

My Mother in Law once told me how much it pissed her off when she’d had a bad day at work and then went home to my Father in Law and asked him how his day went.  He replied in a chipper fashion that he’d had a "productive" day.  Well, for those of you who had crappy days yesterday, look away because I don’t want to piss anyone off….

Maple_cropMaybe it was the fall weather, maybe just getting a good night’s sleep, I don’t know but yesterday was a productive day.  I didn’t have too much to do on my list but it all got crossed off and I watched Cal kick some butt, and I took  a nap!  I picked tomatoes (about 20 pounds–it looks like I’ll be making at least two more batches of roasted tomato sauce), I picked pears (two huge bucketfuls that must now ripen), I made orange chocolate chip biscotti (enough for me and my biscotti-loving parents), and I baked a loaf of bread from scratch.  I did 4 loads of laundry and managed to finish two knitted christmas presents.  And roast a turkey breast for dinner.  So there you have it.  I’m hoping to accomplish almost as much today but I really like to spend most of Sunday on my ass knitting and watching a good movie or Midsomer Murders.

I did manage to get outside yesterday and take some pictures and, as the leaves are starting to turn, I’ll have to do that more often.  The colors this time of year are amazing.

Grocery shopping must be done today, so we’ll be dropping the kids off at my mom and dad’s to pick us apples (apple-pear sauce will be made this afternoon) and some plums.  The apples off their trees are better than anything you can get at the store and I’m going to stock up and store them in bins in the carport where its cool.  I think we’ll have sweet potato soup tonight and maybe another home-baked loaf of bread.

Then again, I might just go back to bed and start casting on another christmas present and do some more napping.

I apologize for pissing anyone off…..

That sounds like a great day. I’m hoping for a little Midsommer myself, and possibly sewing binding on quilts. Have a great day!

Wow – you did get a lot done!

Don’t you just love those kind of days? And the fall, to me, is so inspiring. Guess it’s all those ant and grasshopper stories my mom made up. *G*

loving those days when i get lost in what i want and need to get done. but i have to feel it. it can’t just be crossed off on a “things to do list.” then it reaches into the core of who i am.
i become a “being” vs. “doing” person..realizing that my life has purpose and my actions have meaning…

and that for me, makes a “Happy Thanksgiving”.

If you have a minute – what did you knit so quickly? Also, would you share your biscotti recipe? LED

What. The. Hell. Happened. To. You?

You can tell me – was it something you ate? Drank? Smoked? How on earth did you do all that in one day? And where can I get some?

  7. Suse says:

Whew, I hope you’re feeling all warm and smug after such productivity.

Thanks for your sweet words on my blog recently.
